Back in 2007 I started buying figurines wholesale in the US. I would get them shipped to Painted Figs in Sri Lanks where they would be painted. Then they would be sent to me here and I would sell them locally. Each parcel that arrived looked like an elephant had sat on it while it was in transit but very few of the figurines neede to be repaired at this end. Between the exchange rate and the cheap labour we could retail a painted figurined for about 20% more than an unpainted one.

We eventually settled on four manufacturers, based on cost and demand.
